My Testimony

I was born in Pensacola, Florida March 24, 1972 to George and Marie Kendrick and was raised there in the Fundamental Baptist Church. I remember growing up in church and being involved in many programs and ministries throughout my childhood and teen years. One Sunday morning, I followed my older brother down an aisle and went through the motions of what we call salvation, yet this was not salvation for me. There was no genuine repentance and acknowledgement that I needed forgiveness of my sins. Believing then that I did what I was supposed to do for salvation, I went through my teenage years thinking I was saved with no spiritual desire for the things of God at all.

At the age of 19, I went with my uncle, Terry Kendrick, and his family to help him move to Owosso, Michigan, where he would assume the pastorate of Gilead Baptist Church. After being there for a short time, on a Wednesday night, The Holy Ghost showed me plainly my need for Christ. For the first time, I felt true conviction. I realized then that I was lost and must be born again. I did not fight God that night and immediately walked forward and received Jesus Christ as my Savior (1991).

Shortly after that, I went back to Pensacola, Florida and began building high-performance bass boats with my dad at the Blazer Boat Plant. About three months later, God began to deal with me about preaching. After much prayer and counsel from trusted men of God (about five months after I was saved), I surrendered to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through the counsel of my uncle, I moved to Pontiac, Michigan and began to attend Midwestern Baptist College (1992).

I met my wife, Jody, at Midwestern, and we were married in the summer of 1993. I graduated from college in 1996 with a Bachelor of Religious Education Degree. During this time (July 1993 – Oct 1994), I worked on staff with my uncle, Pastor Terry Kendrick, as a youth director, song leader, bus captain, maintenance man, etc.

In November of 1994, God led us to Parkview Baptist Church to work with Pastor Steven G. Brown, to serve as his assistant. We were members of Parkview for 14 years (Nov 1994 – Oct 2008). While we were there, we met Evangelist Jack Parchman and his dear wife, Mrs. Ann. Soon thereafter, I became Bro. Jack Parchman’s tent man and assistant. The Lord put us into evangelism with Dr. Jack Parchman. I was privileged to be his assistant in the Gospel Tent Ministry for six wonderful years. We truly enjoyed traveling with Bro. Jack and Mrs. Ann. We learned so much, and we have many precious memories. After six years, the Lord led Bro. Parchman to turn the tent ministry over to me.

My family and I have been traveling in evangelism since March of 1997. Our home church is Victory Baptist Church of Milton, Florida with Pastor Tim Fellure. My wife and I have six wonderful children, Grace Marie, Luke, Mark, Daniel, Emily, and finally, Jay. We are still traveling with the Gospel Tent and serving God in the field of evangelism.
